At 10 years old I began losing my hair to alopecia areata, I had loads of hair then so I could easily disguise the bald patches. I love grappling and mat wrestling and at 18 I made my country’s Olympic wrestling team for 4 years. By this time my hair was becoming thinner and the patches were not so easy to disguise.

You sweat heavily in mat wrestling so your hair becomes wet and looks thinner. Your opponent grabs you in headlocks and submission moves making my bald patches evident, I was very conscious of them.
When I was 30 years old my alopecia was terrible and my hair was thin, barely covering my scalp. I was prepared to shave it all off and was searching on you tube for the best shavers to use when I accidentally discovered SMP.
I researched a few providers and went for a consultation only to be told they couldn’t help me as my alopecia was too difficult to blend into. I stopped researching SMP companies and focused on individual practitioners, Simon’s name repeatedly came up as the best in the business.
I had my consultation with Simon who confidently told me they could help me. I had 4 sessions combined and I feel great. I’m so happy I came to Brandwood, my scalp looks naturally buzzed with a a soft natural hairline and my alopecia totally disguised.
I don’t wrestle professionally anymore but continue to coach, getting in headlocks and take downs. My alopecia journey lasted over 20 years but now I’m free, thank you everyone at Brandwood Clinic.
